À propos
I support women who have spent years caring for everyone else and now feel exhausted, guilty, disconnected from themselves or unsure who they are beyond their responsibilities. My work focuses on childhood and relational trauma, shame, people-pleasing, difficult family relationships, grief and the struggle to establish boundaries without feeling selfish.
Biographie
My name is Joanna, and I know that reaching out for support can feel vulnerable. Whether you are navigating trauma, relationship difficulties, anxiety, grief, life transitions, or a deep sense that something in your life no longer fits, I offer a warm, grounded, and compassionate therapeutic space. I am not afraid to sit with you in the heaviness of your inner world, and I will meet you there with care, curiosity, and respect. I work with individuals and couples seeking more than surface-level coping. Together, we explore the emotional patterns, past experiences, and protective strategies that may be keeping you stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of yourself. My goal is to help you better understand your inner world, strengthen your relationship with yourself, and move toward lasting change with greater clarity, self-trust, and self-compassion. My clinical approach is integrative and relational, drawing on emotion-focused therapy, internal family systems-informed work, person-centred therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and other evidence-informed modalities tailored to your needs and goals. I am especially interested in trauma, attachment, emotional regulation, relationship dynamics, and how our earlier experiences continue to shape how we feel, connect, protect ourselves, and move through the world. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting from OCAD University, and I completed my Master’s in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. During my practicum, I had the privilege of supporting clients through a wide range of concerns, including trauma, relational pain, identity struggles, emotional overwhelm, and major life transitions. That experience deepened not only my clinical skills but also my trust in the healing power of a strong therapeutic relationship. Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years teaching art. That background continues to shape how I work: with creativity, attentiveness, patience, and respect for each person’s unique process. I am also a mother, an immigrant, and part of an intercultural marriage, which gives me a personal appreciation for the complexity of identity, belonging, family life, and change throughout the lifespan. I am particularly passionate about supporting women navigating life transitions, individuals healing from past wounds, intercultural couples, and clients ready to understand themselves more deeply. My hope is that you feel safe enough to bring all parts of yourself into the room, even those that feel messy, uncertain, ashamed, or hard to name. When I am not working, I enjoy hiking, hot yoga, weightlifting, gardening, reading, and surfing whenever I get the chance to travel. I look forward to meeting you and walking with you on your healing journey. I offer both in-person sessions (at our Mississauga location) and secure virtual sessions.
