Mackenzie Broomfield (she/her)
Registered Social Worker
I am a straight cis Inuk woman living in Calgary, Alberta. My education is in Social Work and Sociocultural Anthropology, which has fostered my deep appreciation for the ways in which culture, religion and experience shape worldviews and influence choices. I am also a Certified Death Doula with specialized training in End-of-Life Animal Care.
My professional experiences include palliative care, crisis intervention, mindset coaching, family violence, and adult education. I am passionate about raising awareness of the issues facing Indigenous peoples and fostering allyship with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities; I currently serve on the Calgarymiut Inuit Planning Committee for Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary and the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
I believe that people are the experts in their own lives, and that we naturally possess everything we need to navigate this journey through life. Sometimes, though, we just need someone to walk alongside us – I can be that person.
I have a range of experience in supporting people across the lifespan, and I specialize in grief/loss, pet loss, navigating change, radical acceptance, and goal attainment. I am also experienced in building healthy relationships, and in strategies aimed at interrupting intergenerational trauma. For a full list of my services, please visit my website.
I provide strength-based, ecologically focused support while utilizing a variety of approaches, including Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-based Counselling, and Rational Emotive Therapy.
It would be my honour to walk alongside you!
Please note: I practice virtually in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nunavut, Ontario and Yukon. Clients living in and around Calgary, Alberta can also book in-person appointments by contacting me via email or telephone.
